Penfolds Grange, 1951: $36,152

Penfolds Grange has a stellar reputation in Australia for its fine wines and a 1951 vintage recently sold for over $50,000 Australian ($36,152 U.S.). This particular vintage was never available at the retail level and Penfolds’ original winemaker, Max Schubert, gave bottles to family and friends. A private collector now owns this wine made with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It’s believed to be the highest price paid for an Australian wine.
