Outstanding Bourbons From The Past 20 Years

Russell’s Reserve 1998

Russel’s Reserve

Master distiller Jimmy Russell celebrated his 45th anniversary at Wild Turkey in 1998, and for his presumed retirement that year, his son Eddie created a tribute in a bottle for his father. The tribute was Russell’s Reserve 1998. In 2015, only about 2,000 bottles of this bourbon were released, and even at $250 a piece, it sold out right away.

Russell’s Reserve

Already, Russell’s Reserve 1998 has become a collector’s item. If on the off chance you happen to find it, it will cost you a lot more. As any mature bourbon, it is woody and dry, but because of an expert aging process, it still maintains intense notes of vanilla, caramel, and fruit.

Mic.Drop.

Mic.Drop.

Many will dismiss Mic.Drop bourbon because of its millennial name, as bourbon has a reputation with timelessness and class. However, if you can get over the name, you will thank yourself. Mic.Drop is a blend of 20 different casks of eight-year whiskey, and contains maple, coconut, dark fruit, and clove notes. It came out in 2017 at $100 per, and can be found at a number of the most luxurious bars in the US.

Mic.Drop.

Only 3,358 original bottles of Mic.Drop were made, and they’ve all been claimed. However, Mic.Drop.2 was put on the market in September 2018, though if you’re interested, which you probably should be, the going rate is $450 each.
